Sergio Gallardo
Biography

Sergio Gallardo was born in Iquique (Chile). He studied singing with Fernando Lara at the Conservatory of Music of the University of Chile and Carlos Beltrami at Teatro Municipal of Santiago. Also, Sergio Gallardo is a Foreign Trade Engineer with a Master degree in International Trade and in Business Administration MBA.
He made his opera debut in 1998 in Puccini’s "La Bohéme" at Teatro Municipal of Santiago.
Sergio has sung roles in “Romeo and Juliette", "Fausto”, “Adriana Lecouvreur”, “Otello”, “Simon Boccanegra”, “Falstaff”, “Don Carlo”, “Rigoletto”, "I due Foscari", “Tosca”, “La Bohéme”, "Gianni Schicchi”, "Madama Butterfly", "Turandot", “Salomé”, “La Figlia del Reggimento”, “Lucia di Lammermoor”, “¨L’elisir d’amore, “Il Signor Bruschino”, "La Cambiale di Matrimonio", "L´Occasion fa il ladro", “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, “L’Italiana in Algeri”, "Il Turco in Italia", “Pan y Toros” (Zarzuela), “Don Giovanni”, "Le Nozze di Figaro", “Billy Budd”, “White Wind” (Chilean Opera); as well as symphonic music as Requiem and Coronation Mass by Mozart, Requiem Mass by Fauré, Mass in A flat, Johannes Passion, Easter Oratorio, Cantate 147 and Magnificat by Bach, Ninth Symphony by Beethoven, Messiah by Händel, etc. He has worked with conductors as Antonello Allemandi, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Maurizio Arena, Ives Abel, Niksa Bareza, José Miguel Pérez Sierra, David Syrus, Jean Claude Malgoire, Andriy Yurkevich, etc; and reggiseurs as Emilio Sagi, Filippo Crivelli, Stefano Vizioli, Fabio Sparvoli, Renata Scotto, etc.
In 2011 Sergio made his opera debut in europe as Don Bartolo from Rossini´s "The Barber of Seville" at Théâtre of Capitole in Toulouse, France; under the conduction of Gianluigi Gelmetti. Sergio sang the same role in season 2013 at Teatro Municipal of Santiago. Also, he sang Capulet from Romeo and Juliet, First Mate from Billy Budd and Dulcamara from The Elixir of Love. In 2014 Sergio had the opportunity to sing Bartolo from The Barber of Seville at Atelier Lyrique of Tourcoing and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris with Jean Claude Malgoire, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Symphony Orchestra of Chile, Symphony Orchestra of Temuco and Symphony Orchestra of La Serena, Ping from Puccini’s “Turandot” in Santiago and Bartolo from “The Barber of Seville” in Temuco. Last year he isang Bartolo in Chile, Don Geronio from Rossini’s “Il Turco in Italia”, Loredano from Verdi's "I due Foscari" at Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Bach's Cantate 21 in Santiago, Sharpless from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" in Temuco and Bartolo from Rossini's "The Barber of Seville". In 2016 he sang Il Commendatore from Mozart's "Don Giovanni", Colline from Puccini's "La Bohéme" at Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Mustafá from Rossini's "L’italiana in Algeri" at Atelier Lyrique of Tourcoing and Théâtre del Champs Elysées in Paris, Dulcamara from Donizetti´s "L'elisir d'amore" at Teatro de la Universidad de Concepción, Caronte from Monteverdi's "Orfeo" at Teatro Regional de Rancagua and Zuniga from Bizet's "Carmen" at Teatro Municipal de Temuco. In 2017 Sergio sang Tobia Mill from Rossini´s "La Cambiale di Matrimonio" at Atelier Lyrique of Tourcoing and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Bartolo from Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro", Don Magnifico from Rossini's "La Cenerentola" and a Police Chief in Shostakovich "Lady Macbeth of Mtsenk" at Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Zuñiga in Bizet's "Carmen" in Rancagua and Te Deum by Bruckner at Teatro de la Universidad de Concepción. In 2018 Sergio performed Leporello fron Mozart's Don Gioivanni, Sacerdote from Farías's El Cristo del Elqui, Sagrestano from Puccini's Tosca and Bartolo from Rossini's The Barber of Seville at Opera Nacional de Chile, Rossini's Stabat Mater at Teatro de la Universidad de Chile and Teatro Municipal de Copiapó. In 2019 he will sing Mozart's Requiem at Universidad de Chile, Concert and Taddeo from Rossini's The Italian girl in Algiers at Opera Nacional de Chile, Tobias Mill from Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio and Martino from Rossini's L'occasione fa il ladro at Théâtre Raymond Devos of Tourcoing and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Bartolo from Rossini's The Barber of Seville at Teatro UPAO in Trujillo (Perú), Handel's Messiah at Universidad de la Frontera in Temuco, Don Magnifico from Rossini's La Cenerentola at Teatro Regional de Rancagua, Handel's Messiah and Scarpia from Puccini´s Tosca at Teatro Municipal de Temuco. Sergio will be singing in 2020 as Tobias Mill from Rossini´s "La Cambiale di Matrimonio" at Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing in France, Zaccaria from Verdi´s "Nabucco" and bass soloist in Beethoven's 9th Symphony at Teatro Municipal de Santiago.

On November 25, 2021 Sergio Gallardo had the honor of being declared "Illustrious Son" of Iquique (Chile) for his outstanding artistic career.
